Donut Shopping

Donuts are sold in packages of 3, 5, and 8. If there are 24 students in your class, how many ways can you buy donuts so that every student receives one donut, and there are no donuts left over?

If the price for each package is as follows:

3 donuts = $1.00, 5 donuts = $1.50, 8 donuts = $2.25, which combination of packages is the best purchase? Why? Write a number sentence to show your calculations and an explanation of why you decided on that purchase.
