Intelligently Coached Photo-Realistic Simulation

We designed, developed, and evaluated a photo-realistic simulation called the SINCGARS Tutor that used intelligent coaching methods. The photo-realism is limited to 256 colors, but that is sufficient for accurately displaying the radio equipment that was simulated. The intelligent coaching techniques include a rule-based system that determines the next most appropriate step.

InterMath

The main goal of InterMath is to design and implement workshops and support programs that feature contemporary applications of technology and mathematics pedagogy in the middle-grades.

Media Across the Curriculum

The Media Across the Curriculum project was a two year effort undertaken at an independent school, Athens Academy, in which lab faculty and students designed and implemented a comprehensive evaluation of the impact of technology infrastructures on targeted academic programs. The impact of technology and teaching efforts were examined for middle-gardes writing, as well as high school Biology, Geometry, and History.

The Digital Weather Station

The Digital Weather Station (DWS) is an R&D project that has created an interactive exhibit at the world's largest children's museum. Its goal is to develop students' understanding of the weather via their construction of 3D weather visualizations.

The Virtual Geoscience Exploration Environment Project

This project addresses national concerns about scientific literacy, the state of undergraduate science education, and the gap between scientific practice and education by developing and implementing a Virtual Exploratorium, an inquiry-based learning environment to foster deeper understanding through scientific exploration.

The Virtual Gorilla Modeling Project

The current Virtual Gorilla Exhibit is an immersive virtual reality rendition of the Gorilla Exhibit at the Atlanta Zoo developed by the Virtual Environment Group at Georgia Tech. It provides visitors with an opportunity to "be a gorilla" and experience first-hand what it is like to join a gorilla family group.

Wiring the Ties that Bind

Wiring the Ties project focus is on rural community and telecommunications connections. Through the use of technology to record family histories, students at the Middle school will discover and preserve the local folklore, legends and artifacts that have been handed down through the ages.
